Thuso Mbedu Bags Major Role

Thuso Mbedu is doing Mzansi proud after it was announced that she had landed a new role in the upcoming epic film, “The Woman King.”

Last Wednesday, 28 April, an American publication revealed that Mbedu would be starring alongside acclaimed Hollywood actress, Viola Davis, in the film that is centred around an all-female military unit.

In a recent Instagram video, the 29-year-old actress explained how she landed the role: “I found out about the project in 2019, right … We had just started shooting [television show] “Underground Railroad”.”

She continued: “I went to LA for a short break and I was just taking general meetings. And I went to meet Viola Davis and her husband’s production company. And they had just told me about this project.”

Mbedu gushed: “I am excited to be part of the story because we are telling stories about Africa.”

A release date for “The Woman King” has yet to be determined.
